‘Tis the season for love and secrets
Three Lesbians in a Winter Special is a free simulation video game wherein you get to spend a hilarious winter holiday vacation with a cute mouse and her two friends. Developed by Digital Poppy, this visual novel indie game is the sequel to two other VNs named The Testimony of Trixie Glimmer Smith and Three Lesbians in a Barrow—which are also sequel expansions to Parsnip, another game collaboration of this developer.
An important tradition
In Three Lesbians in a Winter Special, Trixie Glimmer Smith is back with her BFF Tabby and frenemy Nikita. They plan to spend Snowmas together and even perform traditional Snowmas activities—such as revealing their deepest wishes to each other. However, the insecure Trixie is having doubts about going through with that midnight ritual. This game is pretty short and is mostly a Christmas special for this series of indie games.
The controls are pretty easy despite the lack of a tutorial. You can use either the WASD keys or the arrow keys to move and interact with objects. These can also be used to advance the dialogue. This game can only be played on your browser but it doesn’t have a menu or any settings. As soon as you get the ending, it will simply loop back to the start of the story.
As part of the mini-series of games revolving around Trixie, Tabby, and Nikita’s misadventures, this is a standalone title with minimal spoilers and can be enjoyed even without experiencing the first two—even Parsnip, the original material. It’s still recommended to try them, however, to see the development of their relationships with each other. Take note that this game contains suggestive content and light vulgar language so it’s really not appropriate for younger players despite the cartoon graphics.
Could use some more features
Overall, Three Lesbians in a Winter Special is a nice short visual novel to play for the holidays if you loved Parsnip and its subsequent games. While it’s much shorter than the others, it’s easy enough to play and you don’t even have to download it. It could use a proper menu, though, and some settings other than the fullscreen mode. Nevertheless, this is still an enjoyable special episode to play.
